NY Stadiums head to head
By Frank Solares
Through four games the Yankees have an attendance of 181,607, averaging 45,401 a game. For all the arguments and the crying about the 2600 dollars seats the team is actually out performing the team in Flushing not to mention the rest of the league.
Bankrupt Field (Citi) is averaging 36,907 fans, not going crazy or saying anything out of the ordinary, the Yanks are the Yanks and well… the Mets are the little brother. Most people are excited to see the 26 time champs, over the team that played at the old toilet bowl in Flushing. Even the blowout coverage on Saturday had a higher rating than Monday nights home opener against the Padres.
We can sit here and debate who has a better team, a better pitching staff, better hitters, or even what star shines the brightest in the big apple. Despite that all the attention that the Homeruns get every day, give the Bronx Bombers must see TV or Must see Live.
All the bad press that the stadium are getting makes people think that you must get a second mortgage to attend the stadium. Just from a different perspective lets give the fans the truth for ones.
5 dollar Seats
Yes on several occasions the Yankees have 5 dollar seats night. A total of 12 games can be purchased at that price, teams like Oakland, Tampa, Baltimore, Seattle, and Washington Nationals. According to Yankees.com (The $5 Games Ticket Special can be purchased at Yankees.com, Yankee stadium ticket office, Yankees Clubhouse Shops, Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster telephone (877)-469-9849)
Other Seat Sales
In all the Yanks have Family Games Ticket Special, Tuesday Night Games Ticket Special, Military Personnel Ticket Special, Senior Citizen Games Ticket Special, Student Games Ticket Special, Youth Games Ticket Special.
Not to mention 14 dollar bleacher seats, 23 dollar grandstand seats and countless of seats ranging from 30 dollars to 150 dollar field tickets. So we can sit here and cry about the 2600 dollar legends seats or follow the team from 98 percent of the stadium.
Bankrupt Field
At Citi field you can enjoy the Mets for as little as 11 dollars per seat per game in the bleachers and the most expensive ticket will only cost you 225 dollars. To be totally honest we did not find any family or kid promotions. We looked all over and did not see any additional discounted ticket promotions not that they dont have them, it might be something you need to ask.
http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/schedule/promotions.jsp?c_id=nym
The truth is that both teams are paying for most of the Stadium. Despite what you might read or here from the world wide leader, these teams have enough fans to pack the stadiums on a nightly basis. The prices are still affordable enough that you can take your family out for a great time.
My wife, my sister Tania and 3 kids went to see a Broadway play and we spent over 350 dollars. So don’t tell me you need a second mortgage to see the Yanks play. IT IS JUST NOT CORRECT!
Voice Notes
The Yankees are 6-6 trough the first 12 games, some say if the Season ended today the Sox Rays and Yankees would not make the playoffs, well you would have to be an idiot (or a commentator for the world wide leader) to say those words.
In these 12 games the Yanks have learned the following.
-
We are not as good as we thought we were.
-
Chien Ming Wang might not be as healthy as people are indicating.
-
Cano is hitting and is on a hot streak.
-
Jeter is doing great in the 1st hole.
-
Pitching staff might not be the same after the All Star break.
-
Gardner is not doing great, but might be the only answer for now unless the Melk Man pushes him.
-
Matsui is still hurt and is not the Godzilla we know.
-
JOBA is Human, and People are crying about the bullpen.
-
CC will not lose every start, and will not win CY Young.
-
Red Sox have a GOOOD pitching staff.
-
We have 150 games left to the season.
Lets not get crazy about the 14 runs in one inning, we will be OK!
Back for more later.
Moving Forward
By Frank Solares
Chien Ming Wang is a star in his home country, some even say that the masses become sad and happy with every pitch. The state of the country changes win or loss. He is Elvis, Jordan, Woods, and dare I say the Babe all in one. Who would have thought that the Yankees would land a great pitcher when John Cox and Gordon Blakeley put pen to paper when they inked him. He is and might be the most under rated pitcher in Baseball, specially when you win over 45 games in 3 years.
The Yankees will be fine with the pitching staff even if Wang pitches mediocre, His country might not be able to handle it, but true and true he will always give us everything he has out on the mound.
Center of attention?
The Yankees might not have Mantle, Joe D, or Bern Baby Burn in Center for the new Yankees Stadium. He might not even be the savior, the chosen one the all knowing. (That man lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue) He was the correct choice and the best choice, no one should ever worry about his ability. He will not hit 30 homeruns or even drive in 100 RBI despite that he will hit, steel bases and score plenty or runs.
GO GO
Hideki Matsui is coming off an injury plagued season, his knee is not 100 percent, and will not play the field until July. The man when healthy can flat out hit and hit in the clutch. Around Boston he is known as a Sox killer (Hideki blank Matsui).
I believe he will have a nice year and if he even gets close to his career numbers he will be a key player for the 2009 run.
Check out the beautiful Kim Jones from the YES Network and WFAN fame. She is awesome, and not a phony like some big headed commentators from YES.
Joba
Its not the Paris Hilton Video, but JOBA will be a YouTube hit specially from Sox fans. Opinion is that JOBA has learned from his mistakes. My humble opinion SHUT UP AND PITCH!
Don’t need to see him on You Tube, on the Tonight show on Mike & Mike in the Morning. JUST PITCH BABY.

Yankees wish list… is the season for Change!
Yankees wish list… is the season for Change!
By Frank Solares
New Year brings a New Hope for Change as the Yankees get ready for the free agent market, and since they have never won the World Series with a republican in the Whitehouse. We wish the Senator from Illinois and President Elect a great eight year run.
Now the word Change has been prostituted or thrown around a lot this year. Not so much if you speak to the Yankee faithful. The club will shed a reported 90 million in salary 2009 will be a year that the Bronx Bombers will have a new face in several new key positions.
Gone in 2009
Jason Giambi-The Big G will take his mustache to a new location. Look for the Giambino to end up in Baltimore or in Toronto or return to Oakland as a DH.
Mike Mussina- Retired Nov 20, 2008
Bobby Abreu- I say. Sign him all day and give him a 3 year offer. Since I am not Brian Cashman and he does not care what I think, he will be gone. The likely team will be the other team in NY. The Mets could use another lefty bat and could bat him between the two big sluggers. If the Dodgers lose the Manny sweepstakes (and they will) that might be another location for him. In LA he would not be the focal point just another star in the land or stars (on the sidewalk). Look for the Giants to be a dark horse as they love the stats of the Venezuelan “El Como Dulce” (“he is as candy” his swing).
I Rod, Sir Sidney, Carl Pavano and the rest will not be resigned. Thanks for your years of service but get the hell out
New Year New Team
The off-season needs are simple Pitching, Pitching, Pitching, o and a First Baseman. I give you my wish list and hope Brian Cashman would listen.
First on the list should be a simple.
CC Sabathia – He is the best pitcher in the free agency market. At 28 years of age, signing him to a long term contract like 7 years would not be so risky, despite the fact that his weight might become a problem, no one else can give him the money that they can. Trust me it will take 175 million and he will anchor your rotation. The Yankees have recently offered him 140 mil as an initial offer. Look for CC to be Yankee by or before thanks giving.
8 out of 10 chance that it will occur.
Jake Peavey – Since the Padres are pondering trading Jake to the Braves or Cubs getting him might be out of the question. Reportedly Cashman has offered Hughes, Cabrera and a mid level prospect. Some sites have the Padres asking for Hughes, Kennedy and top prospect outfielder Jackson. Some publications on the web are indicating that this trade will happen before Thanks Giving.
5 out 10 chance that it will occur.
A J Burnett – At 31 he should be the favorite for the second spot not Derek Lowe but he is a little more expensive than Derek and a bigger risk due to his injury.
5 out 10 chance that it will occur.
Derek Lowe – WHY? (Hope it will not occur)
Oliver Perez – Two reasons why I would this! It will piss off Mr. Met (my boy Lui) and he has the stuff to be a big game pitcher.
2 out 10 chance that it will occur.
In a perfect world as a Yanks fan I would love to see the following and end the 8 year drought.
2009 Pitching Staff
CC Sabathia
Chien Ming Wang
AJ Burnett
Oliver Perez
Phil Hughes (We cant trade the franchise)
Bullpen Mariano Rivera and Joba as the Setup man.
Starting line up.
Captain (SS) would love to see him there all year
Nady (RF)
Mark Texeira yes sign him bat him 3rd all year and pencil him at first 160 games.
Alex the Great (3B) odd year MVP
Manny Ramirez (DH/LF)
Jorge Posada (C, DH, 1B)
Matsui (LF, DH)
Robi Cano (2B)
Johnny D (CF)
Its a dream and it would be the most expensive team in baseball history, but 27 seems so far away they need to fix it soon.
Moose Call Sad!
Moose Call Sad!
By Frank Solares
Mike Mussina’s retirement was harder for some of us to handle then others. All my friends know that Mussina is one of my favorite players of all time. His departure will hurt the Yankees and now they need to fill his 20 wins with one of the big three free agents left on the market.
The Moose will leave after 19 years of Hall worthy credentials and his resume ranks up with baseball greatest pitchers of all time. Check out http://mussinahof.com this fan site is one of the best blogs on the web.
He had 17 seasons of 10 wins or more, his winning percentage is amazing winning 270 games while only having 153 losses ranking him 33rd all time.
His 2813 strikeouts ranks him 19th all time only Bert Blyleven is not a Hall of Fame player. (He should be)
A 5 time All Star 92,93,94,97,99 and a 7 time gold glove winner 96,97,98,99,2001, 2003.
Like him or not (Michael Kay) he pitched in the incredible steroid accused era and no one would link him to any of that garbage talk. He had great pitching years all while hitters were getting 50, 60, 70 homeruns a year.
As a Mussina fan I will miss his class, his valor, his master like pitching technique and his fire. Every time an all time great retires, a part of baseball greatness comes to an end. Not that many pitchers left in the game that warrant the argument of having his name associated to the Hall of Fame.
Just the conversation of his name being linked to the greatest of the game should merit a Hall of Fame appearance!
RIP 13 Years of making playoffs
Boys to men had a song titled end of the road. That my friends is true in the Yankees, they have come to the end of the road.
On this day August 19, 2008 we say good bye to the run of 13 Years of being in the playoffs. That will stand as one of the modern day accomplishments in an era that had great playoff teams.
We should not forget all the great Octobers that the team gave us. Let’s close Yankee Stadium with class and remember all the past champions.
As we close the Year we will cry and hope that our beloved Football teams can bring us joy. Lets also remember that almost 80 million will be off the books. It is not my money but I hope that the next GM knows how to spend it. Jerome from Manhattan or where ever he must live must be going crazy. Just remember Jerome as we continue to go to the House that the Boss built. We will still have the opportunity to pay for CC, for Texeira, for whom ever they wish. These are after all the Yankees and we should forgive them for missing the playoffs as long as they take out the trash in the off season. Well not all the trash Damon will still be in Center, well the rest of the trash.
Yankees will end up with 89 wins
My fellow Yankee fans lets imagine a post season without the Yanks. Now before you hit the medicine cabinet, reach for the Pepto-Bismol or cry in your pillows. Remember that the Yankees still have the largest payroll in Baseball. Lets remember that CC is free agent, that Texiera is a Free agent, that Manny is a free agent and that dare I say K-Rod is a free agent.
Now don’t make your reservations to non playoffs yet. The Yankees still have 6 games against the Rays and the Red Sucks. Now for every fan that has no idea who Alvaro Espinoza, Pat Kelly, Mel Hall, Roberto Kelly and think that Andy Hawkins is the pitching coach of the Texas Rangers. Please turn to a different page.
All good things must come to a short end. Now did you all know that The Red Sucks, that the Mets, The White Sox, the Angels of where ever they are from this week and the Rays have not gone 14 years in a row to the playoffs. Every one has been spoiled these last 15 years. We will not have the Big G next year, so say goodbye to Mussina, Andy, Abreu (who I would resign) and look towards the future. Now I rather go this way then be in first place and choke the lead away (METS).
If this is the end of the Yankee run, I am proud that we made it this far. You can keep your team in the toilet bowl that is Shea and call the over night and point out all the bad moments we had. But you still will always be the second half citizens in New York.
The Yanks will end up with 89 wins and not make the playoffs. Yet this run will never be duplicated by the METS.
The President on his way back
An inside source in the Yankees indicated today, that the Yankees are considering calling up Ian Kennedy for Fridays Game. If called up Rasner might be the man out

X plus Y equals Win
Xavier plus Youth equals win.
Xavier Nady had a career high Six RBI, had a monster Homerun all while going 4-5.
Nady has been a great addition to team providing the power that the Yankees had been lacking. Helping the Yankees beat the Angels 14-9 and splitting the series versus the best team in Baseball. In his eight career Yankee games Nady is hitting .385, has hit 3 HR and has driven in 10 runs.
Most players come to New York and hit a wall attempting to impress out of the box. While Nady had played in Queens at the big Toilet Bowl in Flushing, playing in the house that Ruth Built is different. We can say that he has shined during his first full week while wearing the Pinstripes.
Before we retire his number and make him out to be the next Paul O’Neal lets wait & see how he reacts on his first slump.
Touch of Youth
Justin Christian has been a shot of youth and energy. He is the spark that the Yankees have needed in the late innings. Justin has stolen 5 bases on 6 attempts while batting a healthy 296. People are comparing him to Homer Bush and his running style has been very similar. Homer in 1998 aided the Yankees in the late innings and was the spark plug off the bench.
