Yankees wish list… is the season for Change!

By Frank Solares

New Year brings a New Hope for Change as the Yankees get ready for the free agent market, and since they have never won the World Series with a republican in the Whitehouse. We wish the Senator from Illinois and President Elect a great eight year run.

Now the word Change has been prostituted or thrown around a lot this year. Not so much if you speak to the Yankee faithful. The club will shed a reported 90 million in salary 2009 will be a year that the Bronx Bombers will have a new face in several new key positions.

 Gone in 2009

Jason Giambi-The Big G will take his mustache to a new location. Look for the Giambino to end up in Baltimore or in Toronto or return to Oakland as a DH.

Mike Mussina- Retired Nov 20, 2008

Bobby Abreu- I say. Sign him all day and give him a 3 year offer. Since I am not Brian Cashman and he does not care what I think, he will be gone. The likely team will be the other team in NY. The Mets could use another lefty bat and could bat him between the two big sluggers. If the Dodgers lose the Manny sweepstakes (and they will) that might be another location for him. In LA he would not be the focal point just another star in the land or stars (on the sidewalk). Look for the Giants to be a dark horse as they love the stats of the Venezuelan “El Como Dulce” (“he is as candy” his swing).

I Rod, Sir Sidney, Carl Pavano and the rest will not be resigned. Thanks for your years of service but get the hell out

New Year New Team

The off-season needs are simple Pitching, Pitching, Pitching, o and a First Baseman. I give you my wish list and hope Brian Cashman would listen.

First on the list should be a simple.

CC Sabathia – He is the best pitcher in the free agency market. At 28 years of age, signing him to a long term contract like 7 years would not be so risky, despite the fact that his weight might become a problem, no one else can give him the money that they can. Trust me it will take 175 million and he will anchor your rotation. The Yankees have recently offered him 140 mil as an initial offer. Look for CC to be Yankee by or before thanks giving.

8 out of 10 chance that it will occur.

Jake Peavey – Since the Padres are pondering trading Jake to the Braves or Cubs getting him might be out of the question. Reportedly Cashman has offered Hughes, Cabrera and a mid level prospect. Some sites have the Padres asking for Hughes, Kennedy and top prospect outfielder Jackson. Some publications on the web are indicating that this trade will happen before Thanks Giving.

5 out 10 chance that it will occur.

A J Burnett – At 31 he should be the favorite for the second spot not Derek Lowe but he is a little more expensive than Derek and a bigger risk due to his injury.

5 out 10 chance that it will occur.

Derek Lowe – WHY? (Hope it will not occur)

Oliver Perez – Two reasons why I would this! It will piss off Mr. Met (my boy Lui) and he has the stuff to be a big game pitcher.

2 out 10 chance that it will occur.

In a perfect world as a Yanks fan I would love to see the following and end the 8 year drought.

2009 Pitching Staff

CC Sabathia

Chien Ming Wang

AJ Burnett

Oliver Perez

Phil Hughes (We cant trade the franchise)

Bullpen Mariano Rivera and Joba as the Setup man.

Starting line up.

Captain (SS) would love to see him there all year

Nady (RF)

Mark Texeira yes sign him bat him 3rd all year and pencil him at first 160 games.

Alex the Great (3B) odd year MVP

Manny Ramirez (DH/LF)

Jorge Posada (C, DH, 1B)

Matsui (LF, DH)

Robi Cano (2B)

Johnny D (CF)

Its a dream and it would be the most expensive team in baseball history, but 27 seems so far away they need to fix it soon.

The President on his way back

An inside source in the Yankees indicated today, that the Yankees are considering calling up Ian Kennedy for Fridays Game. If called up Rasner might be the man out

Good day to be a Yankee

At 1 pm this afternoon Yankees had a catcher heading to surgery. A back up catcher settling in as a starter and Farnsworth (farnsworthless as he was known by Yankees Fans) was the set up man. No one imagined that two positions such as catcher and setup man would be affected by trades. The need is starting pitching, but we have Iak almost here.

No I-Rod in Team

I-Rod (Ivan Rodriguez) was picked up to solidify the catching position and trading Kyle was most likely difficult for Girardi and Boss Cashman. The Yankees believe that I-Rod is a player that will add more to the starting line up. Rodriguez is on the last year of his contract. It was rumored that he was not getting along with his manager and was apparently not getting along with some players on the pitching staff. Rodriguez is still considered one of the best catchers in baseball despite the fact that his bat has slowed down his career numbers are very impressive and he can still be dangerous.

Game

The Yankees spent the last two days playing catch up with the Orioles and were on the verge of getting swept.

Then the team woke up, a bloop and a blast later it was 13 runs. Bobby Abreu was on fire hit two homeruns had 3 RBI on 3 hits. A-Rod also hit a homerun had two hits on two RBI and Xavier Nady had two doubles, two RBI.

The pitching was also important as Joba served as the stopper and Ed Ramirez played the roll of enforcer.

Oh By the way

The Yankees are also praying that the Sox trade Manny to the Marlins or anyone out of Boston. WEEI on the Dale and Holly show had a pole asking Sox fans if Manny should be traded. It was almost 65 % in favor of trading Ramirez.

How Awesome! that would be NY?

Pavano & Hughes look good in first outing

Carl Pavano & Phil Hughes look good in the first rehab outing, both pitchers on the road back from the DL. They both pitched for Charleston Riverdogs Class A.

Have arm will hire!

By Frank Solares

Sidney Ponson demonstrated tonight why the Yankees are in a desperately need another starting pitcher. The Yanks lost to the Sox 9-2.

Mr. Cashman, please do not be fooled with the pitching staff that is currently assembled. Sir Sidney will not be the answer the second half of the year. In his last 11 starts he has allowed 39 runs, 90 hits, on 24 bb. The run support has been there for him, will that continue?

Please Bring up Ian Kennedy, Chase Wright or Alfredo Aceves give them an opportunity.

Manny being Manny not working

By Frank Solares

I was listening to radio station WEEI a Boston sports landmark. The station is unlike any other in the country, the hosts actually let the people get a point across. With no angry puppy hanging up on people left and right WEEI actually lets people participate. Well Francesa is a gentleman, I take a little of that back. You would like the station.

The Manny calls were very interesting, I would say about 70 percent of the fans are sick of his drama. Now the 30 percent that are Sox fans that have common sense, know that Ramirez needs to be on the team for the SOX to have success.

See the problem started eight years ago when they signed him and made him untouchable. During any of his Many being Many moments no one reprimanded him. As long as he was hitting, it was all great and everyone looked the other way.

Now that the team has a 20 million dollar option and Manny is not being Manny at the plate, they are ready to reprimand him.

Now, like the Soap Opera that is taking place in Green Bay (tune into the world wide leader for extended BRAKING NEWS of the same garbage) they know it must be handled with care.

Management including the boy genius GM (Boy genius coincidently had nothing to do with the original Ramirez signing, or any significant trade such as Lowell & Becket) are trying to keep Manny focused on the race and baseball. See the Sox would like to trade him to Japan or somewhere that they now he will not hurt them or the precious Nation image.

Doing all this while keeping Manny happy and pretending that they might pick up his 20 million dollar option, is difficult. Now even a little hint that he will get punished for his actions might keep him in line. All this while attempting to catch the Rays & keeping the Yanks at arms length.

The ideal and dream scenario for Sox would be that Manny just go away, all this with out him hurting them 20 times or more, a year while he is wearing the pinstripes. The Scary scenario is seeing him playing for Tampa or Yanks. Not even the first pick in the draft is worth that.

Now Tito from what I know is a good man, he is most likely tired of the drama. I bet if you ask him he would love to see him off his team. Francona and the rest of the team keep answering Ramirez questions all day. That in it self is not the greatest thing in the world to deal with.

Manny might think twice before he continues being Manny, twenty million is a lot of money to walk away from.
